Puberty Q and A
Q. I've been noticing some sticky stuff in my underwear. What is it?
A. What you're seeing is called vaginal discharge. The discharge helps cleanse and moisten your vagina. It could be very heavy or barely noticeable. However, if you're experiencing itchiness, or a burning sensation it could be a sign of an infection, so contact your doctor.
Q. I'm scared about the changes in my body. Help!
A. Don't worry! Many girls go through the same thing. Puberty is scary and exciting, not just the physically but socially too! If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask a friend or adult.
Q. Why aren't my breasts growing?
Everyone grows at a different rate. Some grow slow and some grow fast! Don't worry if you're a late bloomer. That just means you're able to be a kid for a little while longer! :) On a different note, puberty has lots to do with genetics. If your mom has C cups, chances are that when you're done growing you will be too.
Q. Is it normal to have hair down there?
A. Yes! Every woman grows pubic hair. You have the choice of shaving, (with parents permission of course) or leaving it be. As you get older you will notice the hair becoming thicker, darker, and curlier.
Q. Why does my voice crack?
A. Just like developing boys, girls voices change too! It won't last forever, you'll grow out of it.
